Bursch Travel’s story began in 1956 when M.W. “Pete” and Audrey Bursch purchased the Bus Depot Café in Alexandria, Minnesota. What started with helping travelers purchase Greyhound bus tickets soon grew to include airline and steamship tickets—and eventually, complete vacation planning.

From the very beginning, Bursch Travel was built on providing travelers with reliable information, honest guidance, and exceptional service. As more customers turned to the Bursch family for help planning their journeys, the travel business quickly outgrew the restaurant and bus depot.

In 1977, Fred Bursch took over company operations and, under his leadership, Bursch Travel expanded far beyond Alexandria. Today, Bursch Travel proudly serves travelers through 14 branch offices and 3 satellite offices across Greater Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska. While the company has grown, its commitment has remained the same: providing unsurpassed service and helping travelers make informed decisions with confidence.

In January 2023, Lara (Bursch) Deppisch became the third-generation owner of Bursch Travel, carrying forward a family legacy that has helped travelers turn their dreams into unforgettable experiences for more than 70 years.
