Years at Bursch Travel: 20 years.

Travel background: I graduated from McConnell School for Travel and Tourism.  While attending school, I worked as a Gate Agent at the Minneapolis Airport. After graduation, I worked as a Cruise Director for American Cruise Lines.

What is on your travel bucket list: Alaska and the Holy Land.

What parts of the world do you know best: Disneyland and Disney World, Europe, Caribbean/Mexico, Hawaii and South Africa/Safari.

Best part about traveling: I believe traveling is what makes the world a better place. The more you learn about a culture, the more you can respect the culture and its people.

Strangest travel question: A customer asked if peanut butter was considered a gel. She wanted to make peanut butter sandwiches on the plane. Ha!

Years with Bursch Travel and/or in the travel industry: I’m new to the travel industry but have been traveling for as long as I can remember, starting with family road trips around the US and then international travel in high school, college, and beyond.

Never travel without… A small reusable shopping bag. I have one that folds up into a tiny pouch, and it is perfect for carrying souvenirs, snacks, and all that other random stuff you pick up as the day goes on.

Top Travel Memory: I’m pretty sure I found the most idyllic picnic spot in the whole world on a trip to Switzerland. I was away from the crowds, listening to snowmelt cascade down some rocks, and taking in a stunning view of a lake and the Alps. It was one of those moments I wanted to last forever.

On My Bucket List: Hawaii and going back to Norway to see the places where my ancestors lived before coming to the US

What’s Your Best Off The Beaten Path Find: In Nepal, my friend and I wandered into a small storefront called the Peacock Shop. The owner gave us a tour of his building, which was an old monastery and now a paper factory. At the end, he took us to the rooftop, which had a beautiful view of the Himalayas.

Specialization: Switzerland, UK, Washington D.C.

Top Travel Tip: Don’t be afraid to just wander! I love having a plan and map and to-see list, but some of my very best memories are from little parks and plazas that I stumbled across while wandering.
