Montego Bay Jamaica - Sandals Montego Bay

Submitted by Heather W. Rochester office Dec 2008

Destination was Montego Bay Jamaica where we stayed at Sandals Montego Bay.  The beach was fantastic and beautifully maintained, great swimming and snorkeling.  Water was calm enough to sail and snorkel almost every day.   Food from the sit down restaurants  to the buffet was great, much better than last time I was in Jamaica.  Their pools were very small and quite murky,  we didn't spend anytime in the pool it was off the beaten path a little but the beach made up for the pools.   Property in general could use an overhaul, cracked concrete in some walking paths, worn paint etc…but still clean and housekeeping was on top of it.  Food was super especially at Tokyo Joes, some of our party golfed at a nearby course called Cinnamon Ridge, about $130 for 18 holes but they all said the most beautiful course they had ever seen or golfed on.  Waterfalls, flowers, greens etc were great.  We really enjoyed the beach, great nightlife, and the beach party bar-b-que was awesome! & diving was really good too.  We felt the property needs some updating, and people like to party there so if you are a light sleeper book a room far away from all main areas , also their pools are very small and not in great locations. People that are beach lovers and people who enjoy nightlife would like this resort.  On thing to keep in mind is phone calls to US are very expensive whether on cell phone or not, purchase a calling card BEFORE you leave US.  We also went on a Catamaran, booze cruise and believe it or not is was very tasteful, stopped at Margaritaville and had a very fun time!  Played great music and the staff was super! My husband and I traveled with 7 other couples all friends of ours and they all had a fantastic time!  It was the perfect choice for a group of friends.
